Canada Unveils New Vertical $20 Bill Featuring King Charles III
The Bank of Canada has unveiled its new vertical $20 bill featuring King Charles III. This is the first time in over 70 years a new monarch has appeared on the denomination, and it marks a significant change for Canadian currency.
The new note will enter circulation in late February 2027, replacing the existing design. It features advanced security features that are easy to check but hard to counterfeit, making it more difficult for counterfeiters to produce fake bills.
The portrait of King Charles III is surrounded by a floral and leafy tapestry inspired by his dedication to the environment. The back of the note retains the Canadian National Vimy Memorial in France as a tribute to Canada's contributions and sacrifices in military conflicts throughout its history.
