Canada Unveils New Vertical $20 Bill Featuring King Charles III
The Bank of Canada has unveiled a new vertical $20 bill featuring King Charles III to commemorate his accession to the throne following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II in 2022.
According to the bank, the note features a large portrait of King Charles sitting in the middle alongside several aspects of Canadian national identity, including its 13 provinces and territories.
The bill also includes four plants culturally indigenous to Canada: wild strawberries, western red cedar, braided sweetgrass, and arctic cotton, as well as the famous maple leaf and the Canadian National Vimy Memorial.
The Bank of Canada stated that the new $20 note will feature advanced and dynamic security features never seen before in Canada, making it a secure and reliable form of payment for Canadians to use with confidence and pride.
