Canada's Economic Reconciliation Plan Falters on Land Registry

The Canadian government's economic resiliency plan has been met with criticism for missing key opportunities for reconciliation with First Nations communities.

Economic reconciliation can only occur if Indigenous peoples have control over their affairs and are provided with the necessary mechanisms to sustain an economy, according to a recent statement.

The First Nations land registry is currently managed by the department of Indigenous Services Minister Mandy Gull-Masty, but its improved successor requires federal legislation and funding to launch as soon as possible.
