Federally Regulated Employers chief Derrick Hynes said that Mark Carney's plans to revive Canada's economy will be 'impeded' if there is continued labour instability in these sectors.
Unifor President Lana Payne disagreed, calling the employer's push for limited strike action 'opportunistic.'
In another development, a think tank has suggested that Canadian Jews should be offered asylum in the US due to rising antisemitism in Canada. Joe Roberts, executive director of Jewish Tulsa, said that an asylum pathway would make sense given the challenges faced by Canadian Jews.
Meanwhile, imported Australian beef has been found to be more than $40 per kilogram cheaper than its Canadian counterparts in some cases, according to food industry expert Sylvain Charlebois. He attributed this disparity to the antipodean climate and cheap shipping.
