The S&P/TSX composite index ended in the green on Thursday, despite ongoing trade tensions between Canada and the U.S.

Konstantin Boehmer, head of fixed income and portfolio manager at Mackenzie Investments, said investors are counting on a potential resolution to come through soon, but are not taking current developments seriously.

The index rose 20.60 points to 36,834.25, recovering from earlier losses.

Boehmer noted that the Canadian dollar has barely moved in response to trade tensions, trading at 72.14 cents US compared to 72.07 cents US on Wednesday.
