Canada's TSX Index Edges Up as US Markets Surge
The S&P/TSX composite index experienced a modest gain on Monday morning, hovering between fluctuations. By midday, it had risen by 21.97 points to reach 35,828.62.
Meanwhile, the U.S. markets saw significant gains, with the Dow Jones industrial average increasing by 254.84 points to 51,937.48. The S&P 500 index also rose, up 80.55 points at 7,731.05, and the Nasdaq composite surged by 429.42 points to 26,951.97.
The Canadian dollar traded for 71.33 cents US compared to its value on Friday, which was 71.42 cents US.
