Canadian Banks Collaborate on Secure Tokenized Deposit Solution
Six major Canadian banks have joined forces to develop a secure tokenized deposit solution in Canadian dollars. The project aims to drive responsible innovation and facilitate broad participation in the digital money ecosystem for Canadians.
The participating banks are Bank of Montreal (BMO), Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC), National Bank of Canada (NBC), Royal Bank of Canada (RBC), The Bank of Nova Scotia (Scotiabank), and TD Bank Group (TD). They anticipate the inclusion of other deposit-taking institutions at a later stage.
The first phase of the project focuses on moving tokenized deposits efficiently across Canadian financial institutions. In the long term, they plan to connect with other emerging digital assets initiatives.
