A recent KPMG survey of Canadian business leaders reveals optimism about the federal government's economic agenda, but also a desire for faster policy execution.

The poll, conducted between June 25 and July 13, found that 51% of respondents believe their firm will be better off as a result of the government's measures over the next three years.

However, regulatory hurdles are a major concern, with over two-thirds of respondents citing institutional gridlock caused by excessive regulations. Sixty-five percent also stated that over-regulation and higher taxes make it harder for businesses to grow and remain in Canada.

The survey found that business leaders want the federal government to prioritize removing red tape and fast-track a new West Coast oil pipeline, with 50% of respondents supporting this goal. Forty-seven percent also want Ottawa to accelerate major project spending, while 43% believe tax reforms could help lift the economy.
