Canadian Dollar Rises as Treasury Yields Soften
The Canadian dollar rose slightly as Treasury yields softened and the US dollar ticked lower. However, the biggest news for Canada didn't have a significant impact on FX trading.
US President Trump paused tariffs on Canada until the end of Friday. The pause in tariffs came ahead of today's release of the July 29 FOMC meeting minutes. The Canadian dollar rose in sympathy with other major currencies as Treasury yields pulled back.
The USDCAD open was at 1.3867, with an overnight range of 1.3862-1.3879 and a close of 1.3875. WTI oil held steady within a 84.27-85.41 band.
