Canadian Dollar Steadies Amid Mixed Signals from USD/CAD Pair
The Canadian Dollar is experiencing mixed signals as it trades against the US Dollar. The USD/CAD pair remains stable around 1.3940 on Thursday, largely unchanged from the previous day. This stability comes despite softer-than-expected US data, which should have weakened the Greenback.
US producer inflation cooled more than expected in July, with the Producer Price Index (PPI) showing no change on a monthly basis and a slowdown to 4.7% annualized from 5.5% previously. The core PPI also rose at a slower pace of 0.2% month-over-month in July compared to June.
Falling Oil prices, however, are weighing heavily on the Canadian Dollar as West Texas Intermediate (WTI) US Oil dips below $80. This pressure prevents USD/CAD from fully reflecting US Dollar weakness.
