Carney Aims to Lure Trillion-Dollar Investments at Toronto Summit

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney is set to host the first-ever national investment summit in Toronto on September 14 and 15, aimed at attracting $1 trillion in investments over five years.

The event brings together hundreds of global and domestic investors with trillions of dollars in assets under management to discuss major projects across Canada. Premier Danielle Smith from Alberta has a list of 34 proposed projects she'll pitch to investors, while Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe plans to highlight the energy, critical mineral, defence, and agriculture sectors.

Experts say Canada's Achilles heel has been its persistent lack of business investment, which has dragged down the economy. Carney has reoriented federal policy to funnel spending to critical infrastructure and other major projects, a shift in tone that some believe is starting to pay off.
