Carney's Major Projects Agenda Faces Opposition From Canadian Youth

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney's plans for major projects to boost the economy are facing opposition from First Nations youth, who warn that the developments could irreparably harm their lands and waterways.

The youth are part of a movement called Together for Nature Tour, organized by Ontario Nature and Legal Advocates for Nature's Defence, which aims to build solidarity between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Canadians to protect the environment.

'They talk about the region as if it's a statistic, as if it's a number, as if it's money to be made,' said Jeronimo, a First Nations leader. 'But it's people's homes... We know what's at stake. It's our future that will be affected.'

The movement is protesting Carney's fast-track approach to development, which they claim could infringe upon their rights and ignore their concerns.
