Chile Taps Swiss Franc Bond Market for First Time
Chile is set to enter the Swiss franc bond market for the first time. This move follows two other debt sales this year, a euro issuance in late July and a dollar-euro sale in January. The government will issue bonds denominated in Swiss francs as part of a multi-tranche offering. Details on pricing were not disclosed during an investor call held via Bloomberg Terminal earlier today.
The Central Bank of Chile's decision to tap the Swiss franc market comes at a time when many countries are seeking alternative funding sources due to changing global economic conditions. By issuing bonds in multiple currencies, Chile aims to diversify its debt portfolio and reduce reliance on any one market.
