Cimic Wins Contract for Prison Expansion in Northern Australia
Cimic, an Australian subsidiary of ACS, has secured a contract worth 450 million euros to expand the Townsville prison in Queensland. The order includes adding 400 new places through the construction of 200 additional cells.
The project will be executed by CPB Contractors, with CEO Craig Nuttall emphasizing that works will be organized to affect service provision as little as possible. He also highlighted Cimic's experience in executing significant projects for Queensland's government, including redeveloping correctional centers Lotus Glen and Capricornia.
The contract is valued at 730 million Australian dollars, approximately 450 million euros. The expansion will increase the capacity of the correctional facility and provide community benefits through training, employment, and procurement opportunities.
