Collins Eyes Another Hike Amid Geopolitical Pressures
Boston Federal Reserve President Susan Collins believes that another interest rate hike is on the horizon. In an interview with the Associated Press, she cited geopolitical developments in the Middle East as a key reason for supporting last week's increase in the Fed funds rate.
Collins also stated that she is expecting rates to remain steady next year but is penciling in another rate hike this year. She expressed concerns about inflation progress, saying that 'Geopolitical developments suggest that we could continue to see additional pressures push on the energy side.'
