Colorado Unemployment Rate Rises Amid August Job Losses
Colorado's unemployment rate rose to 4% in August as the state shed 1,400 nonfarm payroll jobs. This marks an increase from July, when employers added 3,800 jobs that month.
The number of unemployed Coloradans rose by 3,200 from July to 128,200, while the national unemployment rate remained unchanged at 4.1%. The labor force participation rate fell 0.2 percentage points to 65.3%, the lowest level on record since 1976.
The construction sector was particularly hard hit in August, losing about 2,200 jobs. However, leisure and hospitality added a notable 1,700 jobs despite overall losses.
