Costa Rica Joins DEPA Digital Trade Agreement with Singapore, New Zealand, Chile
Costa Rica has joined the Digital Economy Partnership Agreement (DEPA), founded by Singapore, New Zealand, and Chile, as its fifth member. The agreement aims to establish key rules on digital trade and economic collaborations, including digital identities, cross-border data flows, and artificial intelligence.
The accession of Costa Rica was presented with the Instrument of Accession on the sidelines of the Future of Investment and Trade Partnership meeting in Auckland, New Zealand. This move is seen as a meaningful milestone in the growth of global interest in high-quality digital trade rules and cooperation.
Singapore's Minister for Sustainability and the Environment and Minister-in-charge of Trade Relations Grace Fu welcomed Costa Rica as DEPA's latest member, stating that this continues their momentum to keep the agreement open and inclusive. Costa Rica's Minister for Foreign Trade Indiana Trejos expressed her country's commitment to contributing to DEPA and working closely with all partners to strengthen digital trade and deepen cooperation.
