Credit Agricole Forecasts Indian Rupee Retreat in 2027
The Indian Rupee's potential recovery in 2027 is being closely watched by investors and analysts. According to Crédit Agricole, the bank expects a retreat from its current level of around 96 to 92 by September 2027, which would represent a roughly 4.2% decline.
The US Dollar-Rupee exchange rate has been steadily increasing this year, gaining 6.68% since the start of 2026, and Crédit Agricole's forecast suggests that even at 92, it would remain above its opening level near 89.98.
Crédit Agricole also expects investment demand to favor the US currency due to the US economic outperformance compared to other major economies in Asia and Europe. However, India's oil-import bill remains an obstacle to a sustained Rupee recovery, as higher oil prices can have a significant impact on the exchange rate.
