Crypto Week Ahead: Rate Hikes, Regulatory Clarity, and Market Volatility
Crypto markets are gearing up for a highly anticipated week ahead, packed with key events that could significantly impact prices. Bitcoin is trading near $77,100 on Coinbase after August's rebound lost steam due to inflation-driven rate hikes.
The week's first major event is the cloture vote on the CLARITY Act, a bill aimed at providing regulatory clarity for digital assets, scheduled for Tuesday, September 15. A failed cloture vote could stall the bill, potentially depressing market valuations ahead of the midterms.
On Wednesday, the Federal Reserve will announce its decision on interest rates, with a 25-basis-point hike to 3.75% to 4.00% currently priced in the markets. This would be the first Fed rate increase in three years and could push Bitcoin volatility higher.
The same day, August advance retail sales data will be released, alongside import and export price indexes from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Thursday's Bank of England decision is expected to be a hold at 3.75%, while Friday's Bank of Japan hike would be its first in multi-decade highs.
