Cryptocurrency Markets Slide Amid Geopolitical Tensions and Rising Oil Prices
Cryptocurrency markets are experiencing downward pressure amidst renewed geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and a surge in crude oil prices. The U.S. dollar's strengthening has also contributed to the decline, with the six-currency Dollar Index trading at 101.20, implying an overnight surge of 0.23 percent.
Bond yields have risen across regions and tenors, driven by worries about fuel-led inflation. This has increased the opportunity cost of holding cryptocurrencies that do not yield interest income, further impacting sentiment in crypto markets.
