CSPI Surge Drives BoJ Tightening Expectations as Yen Gains Traction
Japan's Corporate Service Price Index (CSPI) rose to 3.7% year on year in August, marking a slight acceleration in service-sector cost pressures for firms.
The data shows an increase of 0.1 percentage points between the two months, keeping CSPI inflation in the mid-3% range.
Market analysts expect this persistent inflation to give policymakers at the Bank of Japan confidence to raise interest rates further in the coming months.
As a result, currency derivative traders are positioning for a stronger Japanese Yen, while debt markets may see downward pressure on Japanese Government Bond (JGB) futures as yields climb.
