Cuban Currency Market Sees Dollar and Euro Surge Amid Inflation
The informal currency market in Cuba has seen a new bullish trend for the US dollar and euro. The dollar is quoted at 728 Cuban pesos (CUP) at the close of this trading day, an increase of 3 pesos compared to the previous day.
This represents a weekly gain of 25 pesos compared to the 703 CUP recorded seven days ago, or a rise of 3.6%. Compared to 30 days ago, when it was at 668 CUP, the dollar has gained 60 pesos, a 9% increase.
The euro closes the day at 830 CUP, representing an increase of 4 pesos compared to the previous day, and surpassing the dollar by 102 pesos. This marks its highest value in the past 30 days.
The MLC, with limited data available, has closed around 493 Cuban pesos (CUP), an indicative value that shows a 40-peso increase from the last week's average value of 453 CUP.
