Cuban Informal Currency Market Holds Steady Amid Ongoing Shortages
The Cuban informal currency market wrapped up on Thursday, July 30, without significant fluctuations. The U.S. dollar remained stable at 673 Cuban pesos (CUP), unchanged from the previous day, but has risen by 3 pesos over the past week.
Looking at the monthly trend, the dollar has surged by 57.5 pesos since last month's rate of 615 CUP. Despite this, experts caution that methodological adjustments in the index might be partially responsible for this increase.
The euro also maintained its level from the previous day, trading at 785 CUP, and holds a 112-peso advantage over the dollar due to limited supply and demand from individuals receiving remittances from Europe.
