Cuban Informal Currency Market Tightens Grip on Cuban Peso
The informal foreign exchange market in Cuba has tightened its grip on the Cuban peso this Tuesday. The US dollar, euro, and MLC have all seen significant increases, with the dollar approaching 700 CUP.
The dollar is now quoted at 698 CUP, up from 684 CUP a week ago and over 30 pesos higher than it was 30 days ago. This represents an increase of 14 pesos in just one week.
The euro has also risen to a new monthly high, priced at 795 CUP with buying offers around 790 and selling prices close to 799 pesos. Compared to last month, the euro is up by 37 pesos.
The MLC has seen the most significant movement, with its reference value reaching approximately 509 CUP. The gap between buying and selling prices remains wide, making it difficult to interpret this quotation.
