Cuban Informal Market Sees Dollar and Euro Surge Amid Rising Prices
The informal currency exchange market in Cuba closed on September 23, 2026, with significant increases in the value of the US dollar and euro. The US dollar ended the day at 725 Cuban pesos (CUP), a 5-peso increase from the previous day's close of 720 CUP.
The upward trend for the dollar remains strong, having risen by 25.5 pesos over the past week, representing an 3.6% increase, and accumulated a gain of 57 pesos over the past month, or an 8.5% rise.
The euro also saw significant growth, reaching 826 CUP at the end of the trading day, up from 823 CUP on the previous day. This represents a 3.8% increase for the week and a 9.7% rise over the past month.
