Cuban Peso Continues Downward Trend Against Dollar and Euro
The trend of rising prices for the dollar and euro in Cuba continues to strengthen. On October 1, the US dollar opened at 763 Cuban pesos (CUP), marking an increase of nine pesos compared to the previous day's closing price of 754 CUP.
This represents a 5.2% rise over the past week, with the greenback trading at its highest point in 30 days. In comparison, the official exchange rate set by the Central Bank of Cuba (Segment III) remains far below the informal market rate, standing at 689 CUP per dollar.
The euro is also on the rise, opening at 867 CUP and exceeding the dollar's price by 104 pesos. The European currency has gained 4.6% over the past week, with its highest point in 30 days being reached today.
