Cuban Pesos Reveal Dollar Stagnation Amid Euro Decline

The United States dollar (USD) in Cuba's informal market remained unchanged on Sunday, with an average value of 683 Cuban Pesos (CUP). This stability comes after a slight decrease to 775 CUP for the euro (EUR), while the Freely Convertible Currency (MLC) dropped to an indicative value of 444 CUP. In comparison to Saturday's rates, the dollar remains steady, while the euro decreased by -1.5 CUP (-0.2%) and the MLC fell by 7.5 CUP (-1.7%).

Over the past week, the dollar has shown an upward trend, increasing from 675 CUP to 683 CUP. This represents a variation of +7.5 CUP (+1.1%). The euro also rose above its level from seven days ago, moving from 763 CUP to 775 CUP with a variation of +12.5 CUP (+1.6%). In contrast, the MLC shows an opposite behavior, currently hovering at 444 CUP compared to 468 CUP from a week ago, with a -24.5 CUP (-5.2%) index variation.

The official exchange rate set by the Central Bank of Cuba (BCC) remains at 640 CUP per dollar and 744 CUP per euro as of September 6th. Over the past 30 days, the official dollar rose from 618 CUP to 640 CUP, while the official euro increased from 713 CUP to 744 CUP.
