Cuba's Currency Market Pauses in Dollar and Euro Price Increases

Cuba's informal currency market has seen a pause in dollar and euro price increases, but their values remain elevated. The US dollar remains at 674 Cuban pesos (CUP) for purchases and 677 CUP for sales, while the euro hovers around 785 CUP for buys and 790 CUP for sells.

Compared to a week ago, the dollar has gained nine CUP, equivalent to 1.3%, while the euro has risen by 20 CUP over the same period, representing a 2.6% increase. The MLC (Monetary Liquidity Certificate) has seen the largest weekly increase, rising by six CUP compared to Saturday and accumulating an increase of 23.5 CUP since last week.

The official rate set by the Central Bank of Cuba remains significantly lower than market rates, with a dollar equivalent of 601 CUP and an euro equivalent of 684 CUP. The difference between official and unofficial rates continues to widen, with the dollar's informal value exceeding the official rate by 73 pesos and the euro's value surpassing it by 101 pesos.
