Cuba's Informal Currency Market Sees Dollar and Euro Soar
The informal currency market in Cuba saw a rise in both the dollar and euro at the end of this Friday, July 24. The US dollar closed the day with an average value of 674 Cuban pesos (CUP), representing a 3.5 peso increase from the previous day's rate of 670 CUP.
The North American currency has steadily gained ground throughout the week, increasing by 13.5 pesos since seven days ago when it was trading at 660 CUP, marking a 2% rise in value.
The euro also saw significant gains, ending the day at 785 CUB compared to the previous session's rate of 778 CUP, with an increase of 7 pesos. This marks a 0.9% gain for the euro over the past 24 hours.
