Cuba's Informal Exchange Market Sees Sizable Gains Amid Currency Shortage

The informal foreign exchange market in Cuba has seen an upward trend, with the U.S. dollar trading at 742 Cuban pesos (CUP) as of September 28, 2026.

This marks a rise from the previous day's average rate of 741 CUP and is up 27 pesos from just seven days ago when it averaged 715 CUP.

The euro has also seen an increase, trading at 847 CUP with buying prices at 840 CUP and selling prices at 854 CUP. Over the past month, the euro has fluctuated between a low of 761 CUP and a high of 847 CUP.
