Cuba's Informal Market Sees Dollar Rise, Euro Stabilize
The informal currency market in Cuba has seen fluctuations in exchange rates for US dollars, euros, and MLC (likely referring to Monero or another cryptocurrency) on Monday, August 24, 2026. According to CiberCuba's analysis of trading data, the dollar rose by 2.5 Cuban pesos compared to the previous day, closing at an average rate of 668 CUP with a buying rate of 665 CUP and selling rate of 670 CUP.
This marks a 0.8% increase from seven days ago when the exchange rate was 663 CUP. The euro remained virtually stable, trading at around 753 CUP, although it has declined by 7.5 pesos over the past week compared to its value of 760 CUP a week ago.
The MLC, which has seen low trading volume during this period, closed with an indicative average value of 457 CUP, but due to its limited circulation and restricted use in state-run stores that accept it, its exchange rate should be taken with caution.
