Cuba's Informal Market Witnesses Dollar and Euro Surge
The informal currency market in Cuba has seen significant gains for both the U.S. dollar and euro, with the dollar climbing to 740 Cuban pesos (CUP) by Sunday's close, a 2.5-peso increase from the previous day.
This marks a weekly gain of 27.5 CUP for the dollar, representing a 3.9% increase since last week's average of 713 CUP. Over the past 30 days, the dollar has seen a rise of 67.5 CUP, though this may be partially due to methodological adjustments.
The euro, meanwhile, reached its highest value in the past 30 days at 847 CUP, a jump of 7.5 pesos from the previous session's 840 CUP. This represents a weekly gain of 32 pesos and a 3.9% increase since last week's average of 815 CUP.
