Czech Crown Hits 15-Month Low Against Dollar Amid Weaker Economic Confidence
The Czech crown has hit its weakest level against the US dollar in over a year. On Thursday, it traded at CZK 21.46 to the dollar, down from the previous close by .05 crowns. This marks the lowest point for the crown since June 15, 2025.
The decline is largely attributed to weaker confidence in the domestic economy, as indicated by recent data from the Czech Statistical Office. The overall economic confidence fell below its long-term average to 99.5 points, missing both market expectations and Komerční banka's forecast. Business confidence declined during the month, while sentiment among consumers improved.
The Prague Stock Exchange also experienced a decline for the third consecutive day, with its PX index losing 0.21 percent to close at 2,723.79 points. Major bank stocks such as Komerční banka and Erste Bank posted marginal gains, but shares in defense companies like CSG and Colt CZ declined.
