Dallas Fed Educates UTEP Students on Banking Supervision
The Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas brought its expertise in bank supervision to students at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) on September 10. Hosted by Hunt Business and the UTEP Banking Academy, the event provided an in-depth look at banking supervision and examination processes. Leaders from the Dallas Fed, including Lorenzo Garza and Julietta Ezeiza, discussed how the Fed regulates banks, the broader role of the Federal Reserve System, and career opportunities in regulatory work.
The session featured a delegation from the Dallas Fed, including Arturo Barrio, Michelle Luevano, Paul Wheeler, and Emily Greenwald, who shared insights on their roles. Tommy Gabriel from WestStar also contributed to the discussion. The event aimed to demystify bank supervision for students interested in careers in banking, finance, risk, or regulation.
Hunt Business and the Banking Academy collaborated with the Financial Management Association to offer additional engagement opportunities with Dallas Fed representatives. This visit was the first in a series of planned activities with the Dallas Fed during the Fall 2026 semester. The next event will feature a fireside chat with Robert Triplett, first vice president and chief operating officer of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, scheduled for October 28.
