Dimon Warns Dollar Dominance Hinges on US Trade Deals
JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon has made it clear that he believes the US dollar's reserve currency status is closely tied to the country's economic performance. In a recent interview, Dimon stated that the dollar remains dominant only as long as the US maintains its position as the world's top economy.
He emphasized that this is not just a matter of fantasy, pointing out the unique strategic advantages of the US location between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. With foreign investors holding $20 trillion to $30 trillion in US assets, Dimon believes it is crucial for Washington to secure trade deals with its allies to protect this status.
Dimon also highlighted the importance of maintaining free trade agreements, citing 40 military alliances and 20 such agreements currently in force. While acknowledging that unfair treatment should be addressed, he prioritized completing these deals rather than focusing on current disputes.
