Dollar and Euro Hit Highest Levels in 30 Days on Cuban Black Market
The US dollar and euro continue their upward trend in Cuba's informal currency market. According to CiberCuba, at 8:00 p.m. local time on Tuesday, the dollar traded at 720 Cuban pesos (CUP), while the euro reached 823 CUP.
This marks the highest levels seen in the last 30 days for both currencies, with the dollar gaining 22 CUP and the euro increasing by 28 CUP over the past week.
The dollar rose by 2 CUP in just 24 hours, from 718 CUP the previous day. The euro advanced further this Tuesday, increasing by five pesos compared to the previous close.
The freely convertible currency (MLC) closed with an indicative average value of 493 CUP, a drop of 11.5 pesos compared to the previous day and approximately 44 pesos over the course of a week.
