Dollar and Euro Reach Highest Values in a Month on Cuba's Black Market
The Cuban peso has continued to lose value against major currencies in the country's informal market. At the opening of trading on Thursday, September 24, 2026, the US dollar was quoted at 725 Cuban pesos (CUP), a 3-pesto increase over Wednesday's closing price and its highest point in 30 days.
The euro also rose to 827 CUP this morning, an increase of 2 pesos compared to the previous session. This marks the currency's highest value in the last 30 days, with a weekly gain of 30 pesos from 797 CUP seven days ago.
The Mexican peso-pegged MLC has risen by 4 pesos to around 479 CUP this morning, although its use is limited due to low volume transactions and no physical existence.
