Dollar Dominance: Euro Hits $1.14 as Global Markets See Mixed Results
The US dollar is experiencing a strong trend against both G10 and emerging market currencies. The euro has approached $1.14, despite the release of firmer-than-expected preliminary September PMI data. This development is significant as it marks a notable level for the euro, which is being held back by a trend line drawn from late June and late July lows at around $1.1400.
The Canadian dollar continues to slump, reaching its lowest point since late July. The greenback has risen above the early August high of approximately CAD 1.4080, with current prices slightly above CAD 1.4090. In contrast, equity markets in the Asia-Pacific region have shown mixed results, with China, Hong Kong, and Singapore experiencing declines, while Taiwan, South Korea, Australia, and India recorded gains, albeit not at their highest points.
