Dollar Dominance Powered by AI-Driven Computing Power
The emergence of artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming industries and global commerce. However, its impact on the dollar's dominance is not yet widely understood. In the past, the pricing of oil in U.S. dollars increased global demand for that currency and generated export revenues for oil-producing countries, which were often channeled into U.S. markets.
AI could shape a similar dynamic, with discussions about model performance levels out and companies integrating AI into their day-to-day operations. This integration may lead to the concept of 'dollars per unit of computing power,' where energy consumption becomes a critical factor in AI adoption.
OpenAI's consulting division, Deployment Company (DeployCo), aims to change this situation by sending engineers to companies to integrate AI into their workflows. Once such systems are implemented, computing power will become a fixed operating expense.
