Dollar Down, Crude Up: Markets Defy Expectations
The US dollar index is trading lower at 100.945 as of September 26th, a normal occurrence given the recent trend in crude oil prices which is up to $90.52 for October delivery.
The financial markets are also showing some unusual behavior, with the 30-year T-Bond trading higher by 14 ticks and reaching a price of 103.22 for December delivery.
This is unexpected given that the US dollar's strength typically leads to increased demand for government bonds, causing their prices to rise.
The S&P 500 futures contract is also trading higher at 7737.00, but this increase does not seem to be correlated with the rising crude oil price.
