Dollar, Euro Surge to New Highs on Cuban Informal Market
The US dollar and euro have risen in value on the informal Cuban market, reaching new highs. The dollar ended Friday at an average of 733 Cuban pesos (CUP), with a buying price of 730 CUP and a selling price of 735 CUP. This is up five pesos from the previous day's rate of 728 CUP.
The upward trend is also evident over the past week, with the dollar increasing by 27 pesos to reach its highest point in 30 days. The euro has followed suit, closing at an average value of 836 CUP on Friday, up six pesos from Thursday's rate and surpassing the dollar by 103 pesos.
The MLC remains relatively stable, but with limited data available due to its restricted use. Its indicative average value is 492 CUP, with a purchase price of 481 CUP and a sale price of 502 CUP. The official exchange rates from the Central Bank of Cuba remain below those seen in the informal market, with a gap of 55 pesos for the dollar and 65 pesos for the euro.
