Dollar Gains Amid Escalating Mideast Tensions

The U.S. dollar gained ground against major currencies on Friday as investors took shelter from escalating tensions in the Middle East.

As doubts about an Iran peace deal mounted, the greenback rose against both the yen and euro, building on Thursday's gains.

Traders eyed the release of U.S. jobs data later this week, which could provide clues for the Federal Reserve's interest rate path.

The dollar also drew support from rising Treasury yields after a Financial Times report suggested potential for a September rate hike.

The yen steadied at 158.505 after suspected Tokyo intervention last week, while Brent crude prices rose to $83.55 per barrel amid concerns over the Strait of Hormuz.
