Dollar Hits 17-Month High Amid Global Currency Pressure
The US dollar has reached a 17-month high, marking its third consecutive week of gains. The dollar index, which measures the currency against six rivals, is at 102.08, representing a 1 percent gain for the week.
This surge in the dollar's value comes as the euro and other major currencies face pressure. The euro has dropped to $1.1237, its lowest level since May 2025, while the yen remains steady at 158 per US dollar following Tokyo's annual core inflation data release.
The pound sterling is hovering around its three-month low at $1.3187, and the Australian and New Zealand dollars are also experiencing significant declines. The Aussie has softened by 0.18 percent to $0.6918, while the Kiwi has slipped 0.22 percent to $0.5591.
