Dollar Hits One-Month High Amid Fed Rate Hike Fears

The US dollar reached a one-month high on Tuesday due to speculation about an impending interest rate hike by the Federal Reserve. The dollar index rose marginally to 101.55, with little impact on euro and yen exchanges.

Credit for the dollar's strength is partly attributed to stagnant buys at the short end of the Treasury curve, according to Chris Weston, research head at Pepperstone. A Fed decision is imminent, with a 36.3% likelihood of a rate hike, driven by recent oil price surges and heightened Middle East tensions.

The Bank of England and Bank of Japan are anticipated to keep rates steady, but the BOJ faces pressure to support the yen amidst its 40-year low against the dollar. The cryptocurrency market also felt the effects, with Bitcoin and Ethereum experiencing declines amidst financial fluctuations.
