Dollar Hits Two-Month High as Yen Nears Critical Threshold
The US dollar reached a two-month high on Friday, with the yen nearing the 160.00 threshold after Tokyo's finance minister revealed that President Donald Trump expressed concern over yen weakness during their recent bilateral summit.
The yen rose 0.6% to trade around 157.90 per dollar, rebounding from its lowest level in nearly a month and marking its first positive session in six days.
This turn in market sentiment came after Japanese Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama disclosed at a news conference that Trump raised concerns about the yen's slide during his September 22 meeting with Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.
