Dollar Holds Firm as US-Iran Tensions Fuel Oil Price Surge
The US dollar maintained its firm stance despite some defensive moves on Monday, as the ongoing tensions between the US and Iran pushed up oil prices and boosted bond yields. Oil rebounded by more than 3% on the day, with Brent crude futures reaching above $107 a barrel.
Energy supply risks and robust fundamentals in the US have heightened inflation concerns, prompting traders to price in a more hawkish Federal Reserve. The dollar index eased slightly to 101.12 but remains set for a 1.7% gain this month, its best since June.
The market's focus is now turning to US data releases, with key indicators such as the PCE Index and non-farm payrolls expected to support further policy tightening. Currently, markets see a 65% chance of a rate hike from the Fed when it meets next at the end of October.
