Dollar Holds Steady Amid Hawkish Sentiment Ahead of Key Data Releases

The US Dollar (USD) had a mixed day on August 14th as it softened against major currencies but managed to hold steady ahead of key economic data releases. The US Dollar Index (DXY) dipped below the 100.00 mark after Thursday's lower-than-expected Producer Price Index (PPI) and higher weekly Jobless Claims print reduced expectations for further Federal Reserve tightening.

Cleveland Fed President Beth Hammack reiterated her call to raise interest rates, which helped temper losses in the Greenback. However, this hawkish sentiment was tempered by softer data releases.

The EUR/USD pair clung to its gains near 1.1500 as traders positioned themselves ahead of the Eurozone's preliminary second-quarter Gross Domestic Product (GDP) report. The GBP/USD remained under pressure below 1.3500, unable to recover from mixed UK data earlier in the week.

The day's economic calendar is packed with key releases, including the US Retail Sales and Michigan Consumer Sentiment Index. A soft outcome in these reports could reinforce recent cooling US data trends.
