Dollar Index Hits 101.2 as US Currency Gains Ground
The US dollar strengthened in late trading on Monday, as measured by the dollar index against six major peers.
The dollar index added 0.22 percent to 101.197 at 1500 (1900 GMT), with the euro falling to 1.1368 dollars from 1.1399 dollars in the previous session and the British pound increasing to 1.3261 dollars from 1.3252 dollars.
The dollar also rose against other major currencies, including the Japanese yen, Swiss francs, Canadian dollars, and Swedish kronor.
