Dollar Index Hits 101.37 as Euro and Pound Fall

The US dollar strengthened in late trading on Tuesday, adding 0.17 percent to 101.372 at 15:00 (1900 GMT) according to the dollar index.

In New York trading, the euro fell to 1.1341 dollars from 1.1368 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound dropped to 1.3229 dollars from 1.3261 dollars in the previous session.

The US dollar's strength was seen against other major currencies as well, with it buying 157.22 Japanese yen, up from 157.40 Japanese yen in the previous session.
