Dollar Poised for Biggest Monthly Rise Against Euro Since 2009
The US dollar is poised to rise in September, driven by strong US growth and rising interest rates. The euro has taken a hit, dipping to its lowest level since May 2025 at $1.1312. This marks the largest monthly rise for the dollar against the euro in 14 months.
Brent Donnelly, president of foreign exchange trading at Spectra Markets, attributed the dollar's gain to 'the US economy running hot' and Europe struggling with energy supplies and debt concerns.
The spread between German yields and French yields has widened to its widest since 2012, weighing on the euro. The dollar also made a 16-1/2-month top against the Swiss franc at 0.8358 francs.
